All About Me!

All About Me!

I’d like to welcome you to my official website. I’ve had a personal website since as far back as 2005; however, there were a couple of gaps where I didn’t re-register he domain and lost it. Let me stress how important it is to have your dotcom. Now if you have a super common name (and there’s nothing wrong with that), you may be out of luck for a dotcom. In that case, go for the next best thing (e.g. dotnets, dotorgs, etc). I’ve always been a fan of the LinkTree concept as a hub for a person to stack all of their social media links in one place. A personal website runs along those same lines, but it encompasses your whole life. At least that was always the goal of ChristianDuque.com . I’m an open book, I love to share my experiences, and I’ve always been someone whose intrigued others. I’m loved by some, hated by others, misunderstood by most. You can’t please everyone nor should you aspire to such an unrealistic goal.

I’ll never forget my first semester of law school at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, MI. The wisdom from the profs was to scrub our social media. Law students were urged to all but cease existing online. You had to have a school email and maybe a Facebook set to as many privacy modes as possible. And with that there were topics to avoid like politics, current events, and basically anything that could make you stand out. I’ll never forget during the first few weeks of my second semester the Occupy movement was in full swing. Folks had taken over the local parks and plazas, setting up tent communities and organizing daily rallies to the Capitol. I remember one interaction clear as day. One of the security officers in the main law school building warned me not to participate in the rallies as doing so could potentially compromise me with the school’s dreaded honor code. I kid you not. The norm was to lay low and draw as little attention to yourself as possible. I of course ignored the warning and never hid anything about myself. If that meant I was less employable, then oh well. I have never been one to bite my tongue or bow down, it’s just not in my nature. Let’s face it, love me or hate me, I love attention.

There’s just so much I want to do and at 45 years of age I’m at a crossroads of sorts. I still have plenty of time, but I need to act. I still would like to write an e-book about my experiences as a delegate for Bernie Sanders in 2016, I’d also like to write books on my travels, my time in student government at the University of Florida, lawyering, turning vegetarian at 14, and so much more. I currently own over 50 domain names, with close to ten operating websites. I’m very blessed to have a wonderful webmaster and graphic designer who I’ve been working with for the last six years. I have eight YouTube channels, five of which are monetized. There’s just so much on my plate and I love every bit of it. I just wish I could clone myself, but sadly that’s not a thing (or is it, lol).

In any event, welcome to my page. The first post is always the toughest, but every great journey starts with just one step. Hope to see you around!
